When you move out of a rental, the condition of the home at the final walkthrough matters. Landlords and property managers tend to check the same places every time, and most of them are spots that never get attention while you're living there.
In the kitchen, empty and wipe out every cabinet and drawer, clean the inside of the oven and the refrigerator, degrease the stovetop and range hood, and wipe down the backsplash and cabinet fronts. Don't forget the inside of the microwave and the dishwasher door.
In bathrooms, scrub the tub, shower walls, and glass to remove soap scum and hard-water spots, which Arizona water leaves behind quickly. Clean the toilet inside and out, wipe the mirror, and clean inside the vanity drawers.
Throughout the home, wipe baseboards, door frames, light switches, and outlet covers. Clean window sills and the tracks of sliding doors, where desert dust collects. Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors last, after everything above them is clean.
If you'd rather spend move-out week packing, a professional move-out cleaning covers this whole list in a single visit. And if you're moving into a new home, take 10% off your next move-in cleaning with Lucy's.
